East Cross Country Takes Down West on the Road

This past Monday, the Cranston East Cross Country teams faced off against Cranston West, Juanita Sanchez, and Paul Cuffee at the John Chafee Athletic Complex.

Despite the rain (Monday’s meet was the only one in the state that day not canceled due to rain), both teams came out with impressive victories over the rival Falcons.

On the boys' side, the team was led by Freshman Cohen Brinker (18:00) and Senior Cameron Felici (18:08), who finished 1st and 2nd place respectfully. They were followed by Freshman Levi Soch (20:50) and Junior Nathan Gong (20:55), who finished in 6th and 7th.

Those four along with Sophomore Travis Dureault led the team to a 28-29 victory (Cross Country is scored like golf) over the Falcons, along with automatic wins over Juanita Sanchez and Paul Cuffee (both schools did not have enough runners to score a full team).

For the girls, Sophomore Jessica Chin led the way with a controversial 4th place finish. She was closely followed by Sophomore Grace Michaelson (24:20). The girls had a commanding victory over the Falcons, while also automatically beating Juanita Sanchez and Paul Cuffee for the same reason the boys did.

The Bolts will compete next on Monday, 9/18 at East Greenwich High School against East Greenwich, Mount Pleasant, and Hope.
