The Boys & Girls Cross Country teams recently finished their regular season with their final dual meet at East Greenwich.
Both teams took a step back from last year, with the boys finishing 5-6 (8-4 last year), and the girls finishing 1-8 (12-0 last year, Division Champions). Although disappointing, these steps back were expected with both teams losing key contributors from last season.
The boys lost four of their five top runners from last season, including captain Wyatt Harris to graduation. The girls lost three of their top five runners from last season, and they were missing Junior Maddison Dutra for most of their season due to injury.
Reflecting on the season, senior captain Cameron Felici had this to say about the season: "Before the season, I had no idea we would perform at the level we did. We were lucky enough to have some strong freshmen come in and be an immediate help on our varsity team. We also got a lot of sophomores who had done track last year to join, which was also helpful and because of all of that, we exceeded the expectations I had for this team three months ago."
Both teams will head to the Bronco Invitational on Thursday in Burrillville, and then they will look towards their championship meets throughout late October and early November.
